ARRANGE REPAIR

How to Do It

Before you send off your iPhone 12 Pro Max to have the screen glass replaced, you should make sure that the underlying OLED display is still intact beneath the cracked surface glass (i.e. no obvious defects including stripes, blobs, obvious bright or dark spots or anything else you wouldn’t consider acceptable personally). If in any doubt, get in touch with us first.

Then select “Arrange Repair” above and follow the instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Should I pay now or later?

Payment should be made once your phone has been repaired- we’ll get in touch to set this up with you.

What's your typical turnaround time?

In most cases, it’ll be done the same day if it arrives with us by the early afternoon, or the next day otherwise. Once this is done, it’ll be collected by our courier and returned to you. (Self-collect from our Dundee store is also available for customers within travelling distance).

Is glass replacement always possible?

No. It only works where the surface glass is cracked but the underlying OLED itself is clearly still working (i.e. no clear defects such as stripes, blobs, bright or dark spots or anything you wouldn’t consider personally acceptable). Please get in touch if you’re not sure.

What's the price of return delivery by courier?

This is £10 for mainland UK addresses (except the Scottish Highlands). If you live elsewhere, contact us and we’ll let you know what the price is. Alternatively, you’re welcome to self-collect if you’re within travelling distance of our Dundee shop.

Can You Can Afford to Keep That OLED Quality?

Your Choice Elswhere… If You’re Lucky!

When the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max came out in late 2020, its Super Retina XDR OLED screen was very positively received. Not surprising, as the picture quality was Apple’s best yet.

It’s certainly superior to most LCD-based models, even Apple’s own. But every silver lining has a cloud, and the downside of that fantastic OLED is that it’s likely to cost a lot if you break it and need it replaced with one of the same quality.

Most places do offer low-cost iPhone 12 Pro Max screen repairs nowadays. However, there’s a catch- most avoid the price and availability problems of OLEDs by instead using “copy” screens from anonymous third-party manufacturers. Those are cheaper because they’re based on the older LCD technology, not OLED.

Even the best examples are nowhere near as good as the original OLED, and many can be abysmal- both in terms of image quality (contrast, resolution and colour) and fit (often bulging outside a case that was meant for much thinner OLEDs).

The good news is that there may be an alternative…

Glass Replacement to the Rescue

The issue with broken screens is that it’s often not the underlying screen itself that’s broken, just the surface glass/digitizer layer. This means that- in theory- the glass can be replaced.

The reason glass replacement isn’t more widely offered is that it requires specific skills and equipment that your average repair shop technician doesn’t possess or have access to. However, at We Buy LCDs, much of our business is focused on this sort of thing, and we’re ideally placed to replace the broken glass on your iPhone 12 Pro Max.

If you can see your iPhone 12 Pro Max’s screen still intact underneath the cracked glass with no obvious defects otherwise, it’s a candidate for glass replacement. (If you’re not sure, see the FAQ on this page for more details).

More Advantages

You may also appreciate the lack of “non-genuine screen” warnings that happen with any screen replacement done by anyone other than Apple (as you’re still using your iPhone 12 Pro Max’s original screen). Your phone’s also more likely to retain its value- an issue if you plan on selling it- and you don’t have the risk of strain or damage to your phone from using an LCD-based display it was never designed for, along with the extra power consumption.
