Original OLED Quality for the price of a Cheap LCD?

Your Choice With Most Other Places

The iPhone 12 Pro- like its larger sibling, the 12 Pro Max- includes Apple’s cutting-edge Super Retina XDR screen based on OLED technology. Even compared to Apple’s highest-quality LCDs, the iPhone 12 Pro OLED gives a better image.

The downside? The cost of having them fixed properly. OLEDs are expensive, not to mention hard to source, so even if you can find a business willing to fit one, it’ll cost you.

But, you say, surely lots of places offer affordable iPhone 12 Pro screen repairs nowadays? True, but most of them avoid the problems above by using cheap, unofficial “copy” screens based on LCDs rather then OLEDs.

Even at their best, those LCD “copies” generally don’t come close to the original iPhone 12 Pro OLED. And a lot of them are pretty awful– poor contrast, low resolution, dull colour or don’t even properly fit the 12 Pro case (designed for a slimmer OLED display).

Is it possible to keep your original OLED display quality at a more affordable price? There might be.

The Glass Replacement Alternative

The thing about “broken” screens is that often, the underlying display itself isn’t broken- it’s just the top glass layer that’s damaged.

That’s where we come in with our glass replacement service- we remove and replace that damaged top layer of glass while keeping the rest of the original screen, including the OLED display itself. We can do this for any iPhone 12 Pro where the underlying OLED is still intact. (See the FAQ for full details).

Glass replacement is simple in theory, but most places don’t offer it because- to be blunt- it requires skills and specialised equipment that most “screen swappers” don’t have. Simpler just to replace your screen with a cheap copy.

But if you’re genuinely concerned with the quality of your screen, it’s something you should definitely consider.

Other Advantages

Other benefits of glass replacement include the lack of “non-genuine screen” warnings you’ll normally get with a non-Apple screen replacement (since you’re still using the original screen), a better chance of retaining your phone’s resale value and avoiding the risk of strain and damage to your phone from driving an LCD display it was never designed for.

Arranging Your iPhone 12 Pro’s Glass Replacement

Before sending your phone to us, you should make sure that the screen beneath the cracks isn’t damaged (i.e. no blobs, stripes, defects or bright/dark spots you’d consider unacceptable). If you’re not sure, contact us beforehand and we’ll help sort this out.

Then click “Arrange Repair” and follow the instructions to submit your details. You’ll get a response email, which you should print off (or copy) and enclose with your phone before sending it to us at the listed address.

We’ll repair your phone after we’ve received it. We’ll then contact you to receive payment then have it sent back out via courier, typically within a day or two.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When Do I Pay?

You pay after your phone has been repaired. We’ll contact you to arrange this.

How long will it take?

Typically we’ll have your phone repaired the same day, or if it arrives late on, the next working day. Our courier will then collect it for return to you. (If you prefer, you can self-collect from our Dundee store).

Is glass replacement possible in every case?

Glass replacement isn’t suitable for every phone as the OLED itself still has to be intact underneath the cracked glass. Where there is obvious damage to the underlying display (e.g. blobs, stripes, other unacceptable defects), the whole screen must be replaced. (However, even if this is the case, we also offer refurbished OLEDs at an affordable price, so feel free to get in touch and ask regardless).

How much is return delivery for my phone?

The price for courier delivery to most locations is £10 for the mainland UK (except the Scottish Highlands). (Get in touch if you live elsewhere and we’ll get a price for you.) You’re also welcome to self-collect at no additional charge if you live within travelling distance of our Dundee shop.
