Why Packing is Important

It’s often assumed that because the front glass on the screens is already broken, it doesn’t matter how they’re packed. This definitely isn’t the case- it’s very important that you pack your screens correctly- both when storing them, and when sending them to us.

Did you know that a barely-adequate packing job before delivery can reduce the yield of recoverable screens by as much as 10%? Or that a poor job (i.e. sticking them in a box with no protection) can reduce it by as much as 50%?

The flex cable that attaches the screen assembly to the rest of the phone or tablet can easily get bent or pressed back at the point of attachment (rather than in the middle) and get damaged, resulting in it not working at all.

More broken glass on the screen (than was already there) can further weaken the assembly structure and increase the risk of damage to the underlying LCD or other parts.

Although we’re good, we’re not responsible for screens damaged on the way to the workshop. We test that every one is in the originally described condition when it comes in- whether we’re buying them from you, or recycling them on your behalf- so it’s certainly in your interest to ensure that none are damaged on the way here!

Packing for Storage

We recommend that even when storing broken screens, you keep them in (at least) bubble-wrap style bags (see photograph). Remember that the delicate ribbon can easily be damaged, so should also be kept protected.

When replacing the screens on a phone, store the old one (complete with broken glass) in a padded or protective bag if possible.

Packing for Delivery to Us

(Before packing and sending off your screens, please submit and print off either a recycling or a refurbishment request form and enclose it with your screens.)

When sending your screens to us for refurbishment or recycling, it is essential that you provide enough protection to avoid further damage during delivery.

We recommend that you use bubble-wrap or similar style protective bags for each screen (see photographs) before packing them in the box. If you don’t have the bags themselves, please surround the screens with ordinary bubble wrap. Any empty space remaining in the box should be completely filled with packing, preferably more bubble wrap or larger air-filled packaging.

Please remember that these are only recommendations, and we cannot accept responsibility for screens damaged on their way to us.

If in any doubt, please contact us via the regular contact form for further advice before posting your screens.
