Why Refurbish- and Why Choose Us?

Refurbishing Samsung OLED and AMOLED screens has been mainstream for a long time- far longer, in fact, than doing the same thing to iPhone LCD displays has been.

One major reason for this is the high cost of replacement AMOLED displays that makes refurbishing more economically worthwhile.

Another is the fact that OLED and AMOLED screens don’t require a backlight, unlike (e.g.) the majority of iPhone screens that use backlit LCDs. This means they can be refurbished using cheap tools such as LOCA. This is an optically clear liquid glue that you spread over the AMOLED, place the new glass on top of and then cure with a UV light. Due to the low setup cost, this method is very popular with stores who refurbish the occasional screen and are happy to accept low-quality results.

However, as we refurbish screens on a much larger scale, there is a need for a more professional setup. All our Samsung OLED and AMOLED screens are refurbished using OCA. This is similar to LOCA, being that it’s an optically clear adhesive, but the difference is it can be precision-placed and doesn’t leave a mess behind the screen. The end result is of much higher quality than a LOCA-based refurbishment, and far more likely to keep your customers happy!

All this gives you the higher-quality results you’d expect from a company with years of experience in smartphone and tablet repair and refurbishment going back over a decade!

Sending Us Your Screens

If you intend sending us Samsung screens for refurbishment please complete our refurbishment form. (See right for example image of a filled-in form). It is important to note that:-

  • As with most other mobile phone screens (such as iPhone LCDs), our service involves removal and replacement of the broken glass. Therefore, we require all Samsung screens submitted for refurbishment to have both the display itself and the touch working correctly.
  • We are unable to refurbish displays with obvious screen burn or which simply give an all-black output. (These are both well-known problems with Samsung OLED and AMOLED panels). Any screens received in such condition will unfortunately be rejected.
  • We only accept bare OLED/AMOLED displays for refurbishment. Please ensure they have been removed from the housing before sending them to us.

Once you have completed and submitted the form a copy will be emailed to you. Please print this off and send it to us with the screens. It is very important that you package your screens correctly to ensure they don’t get damaged. When the glass is already cracked it offers less protection to the screen underneath and poor packaging can result in the display itself arriving broken.

When We Receive Your Screens

When we receive your parcel we check each screen carefully looking for touch problems, broken screens, image burn or any other defects that would result in a less than satisfactory refurbished product. We also complete an intake form listing the colours of screens you have sent us.

All flat Samsung screens are separated using molybdenum wire on the hot plate. While we could use the freezer to separate them- as OLED and AMOLED displays have no backlight to damage- it is generally safer to use the wire. (See images).

Following this, we clean the screen to get it ready for lamination. Unlike iPhone LCDs, we usually preserve the original polarizer, since Samsung polarizers are very resilient and don’t easily scratch.

Next, we laminate the new glass onto the screen using precision moulds that are unique to that model of display.

Finally, once the screen has had any bubbles removed and gone through our QC process, it is ready to be shipped out.
