Introduction
The Apple iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max all launched in late 2019. The 11 features an LCD-based screen, similar to the iPhone XR, the iPhone 8 line and most older models. The high-end 11 Pro and Pro Max both use OLED-based screens, a technology first introduced to the iPhone with the iPhone X, and also used on the XS and XS Max.
The availability and number of replacement screens for new iPhone models tends to follow the same path after release. Generally they’re near-to-impossible to obtain for anyone other then Apple (and its official partners) when first released and gradually, over a period of several months, start trickling out, with various opportunistic suppliers seeking to fill holes in the market that Apple won’t.
This is the path that 11 and 11 Pro screens appear to be following, despite complications due to the latter’s use of OLED technology. As we predicted, the number of both types available for refurbishment and for recycling (purchase) increased slowly in the next few months following their launch, but there still aren’t a huge number out there.
